Position Overview

The role of Mechanical Engineer involves supervising the operation, upkeep, and functional performance of mechanical machinery and fleet deployed in waste management activities. The position prioritizes equipment dependability, scheduled maintenance, operational productivity, and adherence to technical as well as health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Primary Duties

• Manage and oversee the operation and servicing of machinery and equipment involved in waste collection, transport, construction and demolition waste handling, and landfill operations, including vehicles, compactors, dump trucks, containers, cranes, and equipment used at transfer and treatment stations along with worker housing camps.
• Critically appraise and ensure implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, complying with technical and environmental guidelines.
• Track equipment and station performance, analyze repair and failure reports to maintain continuous operations and optimize waste disposal systems.
• Conduct benchmarking and in-depth analytical assessments to evaluate equipment effectiveness and maintenance quality across project sites.
• Ensure adherence to manufacturer instructions and technical specifications for field and landfill machinery, emphasizing compliance with environmental safety protocols.
• Review and improve periodic maintenance and fleet management schedules, offering technical advice to boost operational efficiency and reduce frequent equipment failures.
• Compile detailed technical reports identifying possible enhancements related to equipment performance, malfunctions, and operational systems within field and landfill settings.
• Supervise maintenance activities onsite, ensuring strict conformity with occupational health and quality standards in workshops, operational locations, and landfills.

Candidate Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• The candidate must hold at least six years of experience in mechanical engineering roles.
• Possession of a valid professional certification or registration with the corresponding engineering authority is required.
• Practical experience in mechanical equipment maintenance or fleet management is essential.
