Job Overview

The Gas Turbine Assembler is tasked with the precise, safe assembly, disassembly, and inspection of gas turbine parts, adhering to engineering drawings, work guidelines, and quality benchmarks. This role demands keen mechanical skills, meticulous attention, and rigorous compliance with safety and quality protocols. Collaboration with engineering, quality assurance, and operations teams is essential to ensure that products meet expectations for performance, dependability, and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble various gas turbine modules and components following engineering designs and quality standards.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly tasks involving rotors, casings, combustors, blades, vanes, bearings, and auxiliary systems.
  • Utilize precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and feeler gauges to confirm tolerances and clearances.
  • Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, bills of materials, and assembly instructions.
  • Apply established procedures for bolting, torque settings, alignment, and fitting of parts.
  • Conduct inspections of components and accurately document outcomes compliant with quality and traceability criteria.
  • Identify and report assembly non-conformities or issues, assisting in resolution efforts.
  • Comply rigorously with safety protocols, including proper techniques for lifting, rigging, and handling heavy or delicate components.
  • Keep the work environment orderly, clean, and safe, observing 5S or equivalent site standards.
  • Work closely with engineers, quality personnel, and fellow technicians to assure correct assembly and adherence to schedules.
  • Assist in disassembly, inspection, and reassembly during maintenance and overhaul operations.
  • Complete all required records, checklists, and electronic documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities targeting safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.
  • Abide by company policies, environmental laws, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical education or background in mechanical or electrical assembly.
  • Basic proficiency with computer applications.
  • Elementary understanding of English language.
  • Desirable familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S methodology, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Experience or exposure to rotor assembly, balancing, or casing alignment is beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection techniques.
  • Foundational understanding of gas turbine functions and performance.
  • Certifications in rigging, crane operation, or forklift use are advantageous.
