Position Overview

We are looking for a Meat Cutter specialized in retail to handle all facets of meat counter activities at our Oakland location. This includes managing inventory, cutting, trimming, deboning, and packaging meat, poultry, and seafood items under direct supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate professionally within the team while delivering excellent customer experiences.
• Use various hand tools and power equipment to cut and trim meat to appropriate sizes for display or customer orders.
• Prepare meat, fish, and poultry by cleaning and cutting.
• Maintain and sharpen knives and equipment to ensure readiness.
• Organize, restock, and maintain clean and appealing display cases.
• Sanitize equipment and workstation areas abiding by health and cleanliness standards.
• Support Meat Wrappers and Clerks as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other store departments when required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a meat cutter in a grocery store setting.
• Possession of a valid Food Handlers Card.
• Approachable and customer-focused demeanor.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Continuous walking throughout shifts for product handling.
• Standing for the duration of the work period.
• Capability to lift weights up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 75 lbs.

Compensation

Wage range estimated from $19.75 to $22.53 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, expertise, and education, complying with California Labor Code 432.3 and local wage regulations.
