Team Overview
The team manages the content inventory and metadata ecosystem, owning platforms and workflows that create and maintain accurate and trusted program records across the content lifecycle to ensure consistency and discoverability across enterprise systems.
Role Summary
This Engineering Manager position leads a team responsible for vital systems, combining technical leadership, operational excellence, and people management while collaborating broadly with engineering, product, and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing software engineering team fostering ownership, technical quality, and operational discipline.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership on recruitment, organizational planning, and talent growth.
- Balance engineering velocity, quality, and reliability by setting clear expectations.
- Create an inclusive and cooperative environment for engineers to excel.
- Oversee development and ongoing enhancement of critical platforms managing content, metadata, and workflows.
- Drive delivery of scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions to support enterprise content governance and discovery.
- Ensure services are secure, resilient, highly available, cost-effective, and maintain operational best practices.
- Define and lead technical strategy, architectural direction, and roadmap to align short-term business needs with long-term platform goals.
- Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams to improve automation, data quality, efficiency, and user experience.
- Promote engineering excellence through leadership, mentoring, process enhancements, and adoption of modern technologies and practices.
- Plan and execute multiple projects to meet organizational objectives with high quality and customer impact.
- Work closely with Product Management to prioritize roadmaps for content and observability features.
- Facilitate alignment across teams on complex, cross-functional projects.
- Advocate for internal users treating data and observability as products.
- Effectively communicate technical strategies, risks, and progress to leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 12 to 15 years of software engineering experience with over 3 years managing and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Expertise in cloud-native applications, microservices architecture, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Proficient in Java with Spring Boot, Angular framework, AWS cloud services, relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures, and modern continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
- Proven ability to deliver scalable, mission-critical platforms while balancing engineering quality, operational efficiency, and business needs.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives partnering with Product, Operations, Data, and Business stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills aimed at fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continual improvement.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of graph databases, metadata management systems, or handling large-scale digital content and asset management platforms.
- Experience guiding platform modernization, technology consolidation, or unification of legacy systems into a single platform.
- Background in supporting enterprise platforms with complex data governance and operational workflows.
- Exposure to media, streaming, content management, or large-scale digital platforms.
