We seek an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Account Management team, responsible for critical customer-facing self-service channels managing authorization, identity, and security states. These operationally essential systems impact customer experience, support efficiency, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a group of engineering managers and software engineers, fostering growth through continuous feedback and career coaching.
• Develop and maintain a strategic technical roadmap to support rapid business growth.
• Set and track OKRs and vital metrics to guide and measure team success.
• Eliminate obstacles, prioritize team tasks, and sustain high productivity and morale.
• Enhance engineering workflows and toolsets continuously.
• Collaborate closely across departments including product management, design, analytics, and security to ensure sustainable and risk-aware development.
• Establish strong interdepartmental relationships for successful project design, deployment, and upkeep.
• Own system availability and performance under the team's purview.
• Contribute hands-on technical expertise as required, including architecture reviews and mentoring on complex issues.
• Cultivate an engineering culture based on innovation, accountability, empathy, and execution excellence.
• Lead hiring and onboarding efforts to build a diverse, high-achieving team, and create personal development plans for all team members.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 6 to 8 years in software engineering, including at least 3 years in managerial or leadership roles.
• Proven experience delivering consumer software products and navigating ambiguity.
• Strong background designing, building, and launching scalable backend systems, utilizing technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing front-end web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Expertise in architectural and quality decision-making and upholding rigorous engineering standards.
• Active technical leadership, remaining close to code and contributing through design reviews and pair programming to ensure delivery and high engineering quality.
• Effective stakeholder management, ownership, and track record of successful project delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to nurture and grow high-performing engineering teams.
• Leadership style characterized by humility, team focus, and fostering a positive culture through peer development.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $181,000 to $241,000 per annum. Additional compensation may include equity grants, monthly stipends for health, wellness, technology, and comprehensive benefits such as fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.

Work Environment

Affirm operates with a remote-first policy, permitting the majority of roles to be performed remotely nationwide, with occasional onsite work required for certain roles based on proximity and function.
