Job description

About the Role

The Corporate Planning team is a core component of the Strategic & Corporate Planning division at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). This division shapes the strategic direction of Singapore's tourism sector by identifying growth opportunities, assessing risks, and developing strategies aligned with the Tourism 2040 roadmap. The team also manages engagement with the Board of Directors and the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).

The corporate planning function is crucial in translating long-term strategies into executable short- and medium-term operational plans, ensuring organizational-wide coherence and supporting STB's strategic goals. This work involves collaboration with the Strategic Planning team responsible for long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the corporate planning cycle by providing direction, engaging with internal units, and crafting effective short- to medium-term workplans.
  • Drive performance management by setting targets, monitoring outcomes, and reporting progress to align with STB's strategic objectives. Collaborate with senior leadership to define goals for STB and the tourism sector at large.
  • Act as STB's primary contact for MTI, supporting ministry and whole-of-government initiatives and coordinating between STB and MTI.
  • Oversee STB performance indicators and target setting, analyze performance data critically, suggest innovative leading indicators, and benchmark according to STB's strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate with STB's operational units to ensure alignment and monitor progress toward targets; facilitate regular performance reviews for senior management.
  • Manage the annual reporting process of STB's targets and achievements for STB Board and MTI.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to develop and enhance a Management Dashboard on STB's data analytics platform, focusing on user needs and experience for management and line units.
  • Manage MTI reporting platforms and updates, preparing data and insights for senior MTI management discussions regarding STB’s key performance indicators and priorities.
  • Assist in organizing STB's annual corporate planning cycle, including facilitating planning discussions among senior managers and guiding business units and market offices in developing impactful tourism strategies.
  • Support industry engagement activities such as the Tourism Industry Conference.

Key Relationships

This position requires frequent collaboration across all STB business teams, providing deep insights into the tourism sector's dynamics. External relationships with MTI and other government agencies offer exposure to broader economic agency functions and Singapore's holistic economic strategy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated strong interest in the tourism sector.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, capable of managing diverse and potentially conflicting interests.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with aptitude for managing complexity and ambiguity.

  • Commitment to serving with dedication and purpose.
  • Innovative mindset with a continuous learning approach.
