Manager, GIS Solution & Adoption

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned GIS expert to spearhead the harmonisation and expansion of GIS solutions throughout the engineering departments within the organisation. This role involves partnering closely with engineering teams to comprehend their operational workflows, pinpoint areas where GIS can enhance processes, and formulate reusable, scalable solutions deployed organisation-wide. Additionally, the role requires active engagement in outreach and training activities to facilitate discovery and effective usage of GIS capabilities across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain an in-depth understanding of engineering workflows across the organisation to identify key functional requirements and pressing challenges.
• Develop and maintain a systematic framework categorising GIS use cases by workflows, user segments, and data requirements, while analyzing current solutions to identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for standardisation.
• Create and update reusable GIS templates and solution frameworks, including for areas not yet serviced by existing tools; evaluate enterprise systems to verify GIS solution suitability.
• Prepare intuitive, task-oriented user manuals and quick-start guides to enable non-specialist users to efficiently utilize reusable templates.
• Organize and lead outreach efforts across divisions to demonstrate GIS capabilities, collect feedback, encourage adoption, and facilitate knowledge exchange through workshops and clinics.
• Continuously monitor and identify further opportunities to apply GIS within the organisation and convert them into pilot projects, standards, or strategic initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in GIS, geospatial systems, or related domains, particularly with proven solution delivery in engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or asset management sectors.
• Proven expertise in gathering user requirements, mapping comprehensive workflows, and transforming them into effective scalable GIS solutions from concept to deployment.
• Practical experience in developing reusable GIS components such as templates, data models, mapping and application patterns, symbology standards, and architectural references.
• Familiarity with enterprise software and data platforms including EAM/CMMS, document management, BIM/CAD, and data lakes, with an understanding of GIS integration within these environments.
• Strong capability in crafting user-friendly documentation aimed at heterogeneous audiences like engineers, planners, and operations staff.
• Experience in designing and conducting workshops, training sessions, or enablement programs to promote GIS adoption and enhance user skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills enabling alignment and influence without formal authority.
• A proactive, strategic approach to identifying opportunities, prioritizing impactful solutions, and fostering continual process improvements through standards and reusable GIS deliverables.
