Role Purpose

We are seeking a diligent Mechanical Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our production plant. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment faults, performing repairs, and responding promptly to breakdowns in collaboration with the Shift Team Leader and Engineering Lead Team.

Working Details

  • Location: Wiri, Manukau
  • Shift Pattern: Rotating alternate weekends with night shifts from 6pm to 6am on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and day shifts from 6am to 6pm on Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Employment Type: Permanent
  • Selection Process: Formal interview, online assessment, background checks, and pre-employment medical examinations

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative and corrective maintenance according to job schedules and provide precise feedback to the Maintenance Planner
  • Respond rapidly and efficiently to prioritized emergency breakdowns, including participation in call-out rotations when required
  • Utilize SAP to create work orders, source and reserve spare parts, document work history, and apply accurate failure codes
  • Collaborate closely with the Shift Team Leader and wider team to support shift handovers, reporting, and supervise subcontractors as necessary
  • Engage in failure review meetings and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintain exceptional Health, Safety, and Environmental standards by adhering to all OSH procedures, wearing the necessary personal protective equipment, and actively managing risks

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Possession of a Level 4 Trade Certificate and current New Zealand EWRB Practising Licence where applicable
  • Experience in FMCG or process industries is preferred
  • Familiarity with SAP Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with general computer usage
  • Strong dedication to Health, Safety, Environment, and quality standards
  • Clear and effective communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
  • Ability to work well in a team setting with adaptability, proactivity, and initiative
