Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Distribution Center by performing general building upkeep, equipment repairs, and various handyman tasks on-site.

Key Duties and Tasks

• Conduct routine building repairs including carpentry, painting, and electrical maintenance.
• Manage outdoor upkeep such as lawn maintenance and snow removal around company property.
• Repair concrete surfaces and flooring as required.
• Document all maintenance activities accurately using Service Channel work order system.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely, prioritizing personal and team safety.
• Remain vigilant to identify and report unsafe conditions or procedures.
• Execute other related responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient communication skills to understand and convey detailed instructions effectively, including reading and writing abilities.
• Competent in general building maintenance including carpentry, painting, and electrical work.
• Skilled with basic hand tools such as saws and drills.
• Experience operating and repairing forklifts or similar industrial equipment.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Basic computer literacy especially for managing work orders and email communication.
• Preference for candidates with multi-trade handyman capabilities including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding skills.

Minimum Requirements

• Prior experience in facilities repair and maintenance.
• Forklift or industrial equipment operating knowledge and skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong communication capabilities for comprehending and following instructions effectively.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing duties.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts including weekends.
• Proficient use of hand tools and computer systems for work order management.
• Must be at least 18 years old to be eligible.

Physical Requirements

• Capacity to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, and handle items up to 50 lbs independently.
• Ability to traverse all distribution center areas.
• Capable of moving heavy objects up to 250 lbs with or without accommodations.
• Typical work involves approximately 90% standing, walking, lifting, and product arrangement; 5% sitting; and 5% desk or phone tasks.
