Primary Function
Oversee the maintenance operations at the airport to guarantee that all facilities, equipment, and infrastructure function at peak performance. This role involves organizing maintenance schedules, supervising maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and optimizing the use of available resources.
Operational Duties
- Track the operational status of generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS) through weekly and monthly schedules.
- Ensure monthly inspections and testing of mechanical systems including water treatment, sewage, conveyors, elevators, escalators, firefighting, and gas detection systems.
- Prepare for scenarios involving power failures, interruptions to the main water supply, and other maintenance disruptions impacting air transport.
- Verify the availability and suitability of specialized tools and testing devices needed for electrical and electronic system upkeep.
- Perform systematic audits and inspections to confirm compliance with procedures, policies, and standards.
- Supervise maintenance work across airport facilities, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Create cleaning schedules determining the frequency and timing for different facility areas along with detailed cleaning task plans.
- Manage inventory regarding cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment, and consumables.
- Apply preventive maintenance to cleaning equipment to maintain operational readiness.
- Compile monthly reports evaluating the supply levels of consumables and non-recoverable items supporting preventive and corrective maintenance efforts and verify newly installed systems.
- Conduct inspections of maintenance warehouses to assess storage and condition of spare parts, with special attention to critical components.
- Oversee inventory management of recoverable spare parts under the jurisdiction of the Second Airports Cluster Company.
- Assess and determine the necessity of work permits for planned and emergency maintenance, repairs, renovations, or construction activities within airport premises.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of documentation and requests related to work permits in collaboration with contractors and airport departments.
- Communicate with stakeholders such as airport staff, security, and air traffic control regarding work schedules and operational impacts.
- Manage HVAC, lighting, and other energy consumption through the Building Management System (BMS).
- Develop and revise spatial data including floor plans and site maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), monitoring space occupancy and planning modifications.
- Provide maintenance-related information to relevant departments to assist with upgrade projects.
Administrative Duties
- Lead and mentor maintenance team members by setting goals, identifying training needs, and evaluating developmental progress.
- Ensure that maintenance staff perform tasks effectively and efficiently while nurturing a cooperative work environment.
- Implement workplace policies and procedures, particularly those supporting cargo development and airport operations.
- Assist management by preparing targeted reports that contribute to initiatives improving airport operations.
- Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to monitor progress, address challenges, gather feedback, and implement solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or a comparable discipline is required.
- At least seven years of relevant experience in maintenance or facility management.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English languages is mandatory.
