About the Role

Located in a peaceful residential area of Eastbourne, Inglewood Nursing Home offers both short-term and long-term nursing plus palliative care for up to 60 residents. The home combines charming period-style architecture with modern amenities, featuring bright rooms overlooking gardens, wheelchair accessibility, and a nurturing atmosphere prioritising personalised care and strong connections with residents and their families.

We are seeking a Maintenance Officer to ensure the facility remains safe, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times. This hands-on position requires a practical skill set and a proactive mindset to support the safety, comfort, and overall upkeep of the home.

Main Duties

  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks throughout the premises and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure all equipment and systems operate safely and efficiently by identifying and addressing issues promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with the Home Manager and other staff in planning maintenance, conducting compliance checks, and coordinating with contractors as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and fully functional environment adhering to health and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of general repairs, electrical systems, and building maintenance.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage workload.
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving and maintenance activities.
  • Reliability, organisational skills, and ability to handle challenges efficiently.

Terms and Benefits

  • Hourly wage of £14.77.
  • Contracted for 40 hours per week.
  • Pension scheme enrollment and paid DBS check provided.
  • Uniform supplied.
  • 5.6 weeks of annual leave, based on a full-time contract.
