Maintenance Officer - Geelong

Role Overview

The Maintenance Officer will work under the supervision of the Service Manager, carrying out ongoing repairs and preventive maintenance for buildings, equipment, plant, gardening, and furniture. They will also contribute to ensuring a safe environment by identifying and managing health and safety concerns affecting residents, staff, and visitors. The position focuses on maintaining the aged care facility in excellent condition through prompt and skilled handling of maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and required repairs and preventive upkeep on building structures, machinery, equipment, and furniture.
• Maintain external areas including gardens, lawns, and landscaped spaces to ensure safety, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Perform regular gardening activities such as mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, applying mulch and fertilizer, and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors as necessary.
• Recognize and report areas needing enhancement or repair.
• Support health and safety initiatives to uphold a secure environment throughout the facility.

• Proficient computer literacy; experience with computer-based maintenance management systems is beneficial.
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety regulations and maintenance compliance requirements pertinent to residential aged care settings.

Mandatory Requirements

• Current police record check or in progress.
• Trade qualification or a minimum of 3 years in a commercial maintenance role.
• Valid driver's license.
