Maintenance Foreman

Job Overview

The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating the maintenance team to ensure effective functioning of machinery and facilities. This includes overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance, managing spare parts inventory, and minimizing equipment downtime. The role requires collaboration with various departments to support production and enhance reliability of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise technicians, electricians, and mechanics, assigning daily tasks and providing training on maintenance protocols, safety, and equipment handling.
• Develop and track preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment failures and extend machinery lifespan.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to maintain operational efficiency.
• Oversee maintenance of production equipment such as furnaces, mills, presses, as well as factory infrastructure including utilities, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability of essential components and coordinate timely ordering of replacements.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintain comprehensive records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Prepare and submit reports to management detailing maintenance activities, downtime, costs, and recurring issues.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to reduce downtime and facilitate equipment upgrades.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and fair task delegation to the maintenance team to maintain motivation and effective work distribution.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to product/process specifications within maintenance activities.
• Implement business process improvements by coordinating policies, procedures, and exploring automation opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations in the work area.
• Resolve operational issues and escalate complex problems as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma degree in a relevant field.
• Between 4 and 6 years of experience in maintenance roles.
• Technical expertise in mechanical diagnostics, mechanical and collision repairs, preventative and predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
