About the Role
This full-time Maintenance Fitter position is based in Wantirna South, Victoria, and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The core responsibility is to ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to meet expected standards of availability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a Zero Harm safety culture and adhere strictly to company policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the site to achieve maintenance targets.
- Execute both preventive and breakdown maintenance promptly and cost-efficiently.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment malfunctions proactively.
- Assist in equipment upgrades and installation projects.
- Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in Toolbox Talks addressing operational and workplace health, safety, and environmental concerns.
- Manage maintenance spare parts and consumables inventory effectively.
- Ensure regular maintenance programs comply with established plans and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot faults to minimize downtime and enhance factory operations.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting within a similar trade environment.
- Trade qualification in a mechanical discipline such as Certificate III in Engineering (mechanical trade) or Mechanical Fitting and Turning Trade Certificate.
- Skilled in fabrication and welding techniques.
- Strong knowledge of and compliance with safety procedures in manufacturing settings, including performing Take 2 safety checks, following Job Safety Environmental Analysis, Safe Work Method Statements, work instructions, and issuing permits.
- Ability to follow maintenance plans and schedules accurately.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined or narrow spaces.
- A proactive mindset with a flexible and positive attitude toward all tasks.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Experience with stores and spares inventory management is advantageous.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent team player with the ability to build positive workplace relationships.
