Job description

Overview

  • Maintain adequate inventory levels and ensure availability of spare parts according to company standards.
  • Coordinate with various departments to manage inventory of chemicals and consumables.
  • Conduct timely stocktaking, reconciliation, and audits for spare parts and chemical & consumable stock to prevent discrepancies.
  • Manage a large spare parts inventory worth approximately 5-10 Crores.
  • Ensure availability and storage compliance of HSD (High-Speed Diesel) and LPG.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and myBUY team to drive value engineering initiatives.
  • Ensure statutory compliance related to storage and drive store key controls (KC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper stacking, documentation, and accounting of received spares, chemicals, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with departments for Goods Receipt Note (GRN) and key control compliance.
  • Provide regular inventory reports to stakeholders and ensure timely availability of HSD/LPG.
  • Handle vendor code creation and vendor development for KGF site.
  • Issue chemicals and consumables following First Expiry First Out (FEFO) principles.
  • Coordinate with finance on engineering scrap disposal.
  • Prepare purchase orders and purchase requisitions in SAP and Ariba as needed.
  • Manage documentation for rejected materials and their returns to suppliers.
  • Follow up with suppliers for secondary packaging materials.
  • Support Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) roles by creating awareness, supporting execution, and ensuring compliance with GEHSMS standards.
  • Train operatives on basic technical and safety trainings.
  • Ensure timely reporting and system documentation, fulfilling all store key controls on schedule.
  • Promote environmental initiatives such as fulfilling biomass briquette stock for the plant.
  • Manage clearing of exceptions promptly to facilitate vendor payments.
  • Coordinate with finance and IBM teams to ensure timely release of vendor payments.
  • Monitor repair and maintenance activities daily and perform weekly categorization corrections.
  • Provide support to plant teams for AIB and statutory audits.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure 100% uptime of process lines by maintaining optimal engineering stores inventory and issuing indents timely.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and other stakeholders to update minimum and maximum reorder levels of spares to balance availability and inventory cost.
  • Provide stakeholders with timely information about consumption patterns of spare parts.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Participate actively in task force activities focused on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze issues collectively, propose procurement solutions, and liaise with suppliers for quality-related concerns.
  • Obtain approvals for solutions from plant leadership.
  • Engage in team meetings to identify gaps and develop as well as implement corrective action plans.
  • Support colleagues by understanding and resolving team challenges.
  • Assist management in benchmarking consumption and procurement trends and providing feedback on change initiatives.

Additional Duties

  • Support Engineering Manager in fulfilling store key controls related to plant engineering.
  • Assist in fostering Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) culture and Plant Equipment Maintenance Management (PEMM) within the engineering department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational background: Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in engineering stores or warehouse operations.
  • At least 2 to 3 years supervisory experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems and shop floor culture.
  • Proficiency in English, Assamese, and Hindi languages.
  • Coordination and communication skills essential.

Interaction and Working Environment

  • Internal coordination with reportees, shift in-charge, quality manager, manufacturing manager, HR manager, and plant head.
  • External collaboration with vendors and fabricators.
