About the Role

Join Aspira Quinte Gardens Retirement Living as a Maintenance Assistant and contribute to providing a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. This role offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 am to 4 pm. The pay rate is $21.00 per hour. You'll be part of a purpose-driven organization focused on cultivating happiness and ensuring seniors live with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general repair and maintenance tasks such as painting, plastering, basic plumbing (e.g., faucet replacement, toilet unblocking), woodworking (e.g., moulding replacement, door installation), and minor electrical work (e.g., changing light bulbs).
  • Maintain cleanliness by scrubbing, stripping, and waxing floors in hallways, stairways, and common areas as directed.
  • Regularly empty garbage and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal and storage of recycling materials.
  • Care for the building's exterior, grounds, and parking areas.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks and doorways and apply salt to preserve safety.
  • Mow and water grass, tend to flower gardens, and apply fertilizer to maintain a neat appearance.
  • Complete required forms and reports to ensure proper follow-up on maintenance activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Certification, training, and experience in building repairs, painting, floor care, safety procedures, property maintenance, plumbing, and heating/air conditioning.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a similar maintenance role.
  • Strong customer service skills and proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Good knowledge of residential equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Capability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada, with valid permits if applicable.
  • Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia).
  • Awareness that artificial intelligence may be used in the applicant screening or assessment process.
