Job Overview

Core Laboratories is looking for a dependable and meticulous Machine Operator to efficiently set up, run, and maintain CNC machining equipment within a safe manufacturing environment. Candidates must be skilled in reading engineering drawings, handling precision measuring tools, executing basic machine setup and maintenance, and adhering to quality control and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines by checking program revisions, confirming proper materials and quantities, and establishing initial positions for machine home and tooling offsets.
  • Operate machinery following instructions from drawings, prints, or verbal directions.
  • Possess strong knowledge of CNC tooling and their proper applications.
  • Interpret engineering prints and read them accurately to guide machining tasks.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and thread gauges correctly for measurements.
  • Comply with all shop safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily maintenance including monitoring fluid levels, inspecting lifting devices, cleaning debris, and reporting tooling needs to supervisors.
  • Adhere to company Quality Control and ISO standards consistently.
  • Accurately document required paperwork and utilize digital timekeeping systems.
  • Maintain communication logs on the machine, reporting any alarms or issues and ensuring smooth shift transitions through clear written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Completion of CNC machining coursework or possession of a certificate is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Preferably own basic precision measuring tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to distinguish between various metals used in manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of basic metal cutting principles.
  • Familiarity with tooling nomenclature.
  • Capability to independently perform full machine setups.
  • Skills in diagnosing process problems and applying effective corrections.
  • Competence in reading precision measuring instruments.
  • Experienced in machining and inspecting diverse thread types such as Acme, Stub Acme, V-thread, Round, and Buttress threads used in mechanical applications.
  • Ability to identify different materials with knowledge of their machining characteristics and select correct tooling with appropriate feeds and speeds.
  • Consistently maintain machining tolerance within +/- 0.001 inches.
  • Experience troubleshooting and making CNC program adjustments.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as required.
