Role Overview
We are seeking passionate individuals who enjoy operating machinery to join our specialized Machine Operations Team in Marlborough. This role focuses specifically on operating tractors, harvesters, ATVs, and other vineyard machinery to perform seasonal tasks such as spraying, trimming, mowing, defoliating, and harvesting. You'll be responsible for high-quality operation with attention to safety and efficiency, supported by experienced operators, training, and standardized procedures. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to develop deep expertise in machine operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate tractors, harvesters, ATVs, and various vineyard machines.
- Perform seasonal duties including mowing, mulching, trimming, leaf plucking, compost distribution, post driving, and harvest activities.
- Conduct pre-start checks, basic preventative maintenance, and seasonal setup of machinery.
- Maintain high standards of quality and safety by identifying issues and raising concerns as needed.
- Collaborate closely with fellow operators, Team Leaders, and the workshop team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Seek continuous improvement opportunities to enhance operational quality and efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience operating tractors, machinery, or comparable equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of machinery maintenance.
- Possession of a full, current New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Reliable with a strong sense of accountability.
- Detail-oriented with pride in producing high-quality work.
- Strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively in a team environment.
- Competent in following work plans and communicating any irregularities observed.
- Willingness to work extended hours and shifts during the harvest season.
Vineyard experience is advantageous but not mandatory; solid machinery skills from agriculture, horticulture, or related fields are welcomed. We provide support to develop expertise on all equipment.
