Job Overview

We have an urgent opening for a Machine Operator at our Toronto manufacturing facility. The role involves operating carpet cushion machinery—specifically a laminator machine—in alignment with safety, production, and quality standards. Operators work within a team to ensure that production orders meet deadlines and maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and comprehend instructions from the Department Manager.
• Identify and withdraw raw materials from inventory or receive them from prior processes.
• Utilize a forklift to move logs or rolls to inventory or transport trailers.
• Execute machine-specific tasks following standard operating procedures.
• Follow established production protocols when transferring parts to the subsequent production stage or the shipping area.
• Clean equipment regularly and conduct scheduled maintenance, reporting malfunctions or breakdowns promptly.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly at all times.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Successful completion of Physician’s Physical Fitness and Respiratory Tests.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
• Capability to handle heavy materials safely during an 8-hour shift.
• Comfortable lifting weights between 20 to 40 pounds.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to operate a forklift or clamp truck, or willingness to obtain the appropriate license.
• Effective communication skills for responding to employee inquiries or comments.
• Highly organized with good time management skills is advantageous.
