About the Role
We are inviting applications for experienced Machine Operators to join a prominent flexible packaging manufacturer in Hornby. Positions are open in two main production areas: the Print Department and the Slitting Department. Both roles work on a rotating shift schedule encompassing day, afternoon, and night shifts.
Selected candidates will become part of a dedicated team committed to safety, quality, operational efficiency, and ongoing process enhancement. Whether assisting in flexographic printing processes or managing slitting equipment, these roles contribute fundamentally to producing top-tier packaging solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and running flexographic printing machines, or operate slitting machinery to precise specifications.
- Handle materials such as printing inks, cores, and other production supplies.
- Support production changeovers and monitor quality throughout production runs.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the work environment.
- Record production data accurately including downtime and waste.
- Wrap, label, and stack finished products as required (Slitter Operator).
Shift Patterns and Working Hours
Both roles operate on a rotating shift basis with specific hours and allowances:
- Print Assistant: 40 hours/week with shifts rotating weekly:
- Week 1: Day shift, 6am - 2pm, Monday to Friday
- Week 2: Afternoon shift, 2pm - 10pm, Monday to Friday
- Week 3: Night shift, 10pm - 6am, Sunday to Thursday
- Slitter Operator: 41 hours/week with shifts rotating weekly:
- Week 1: Day shift, 5:50am - 2pm, Monday to Friday
- Week 2: Afternoon shift, 1:50pm - 10pm, Monday to Friday
- Week 3: Night shift, 9:50pm - 6am, Sunday to Thursday
Hourly pay is $26.28 plus a daily shift allowance of $18.99.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Prior experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical ability and problem-resolution skills are essential.
- Basic literacy and numeracy competencies.
- High levels of accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Dependable transportation and consistent attendance are required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid New Zealand work authorization is mandatory.
