Role Overview

The Payroll Officer will manage comprehensive payroll operations including monthly payroll for internal employees and weekly payroll for contractors. Key responsibilities include maintaining and validating payroll data for accuracy and reconciliation on a year-to-date basis, handling employee terminations and manual payment adjustments, and processing statutory payroll obligations such as payroll tax, PAYG, and superannuation.

The role also involves auditing payroll practices regularly, preparing payroll reports and ensuring proper documentation of payroll processes. The officer will support month-end payroll activities and assist financial accountants in reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts throughout the fiscal year, including year-end payroll reconciliations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, is well-organized, and continually strives to deliver exceptional outcomes for stakeholders. With 2 to 3 years of payroll experience, candidates should demonstrate expertise in high-volume payroll processing and possess a comprehensive understanding of payroll functions as well as broader financial processes.

Additional expectations include the ability to analyze payroll data, identify irregularities and trends, advise staff on payroll improvements, manage calculation and administration of commissions and bonuses deftly, and possess strong knowledge of taxation, compliance, and regulatory frameworks. Proficiency with company financial management software is essential.
