Carpenter Co., the largest global manufacturer of comfort cushioning products, has been serving Calgary, Alberta since 1977. We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator for our first shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) at our Calgary manufacturing facility.
Role Overview
The Machine Operator will be accountable for the safe and efficient handling of assigned machinery used in producing components and finished goods in line with daily production plans.
Key Duties
- Perform pre-operation inspections on designated production equipment prior to use
- Adhere to work instructions and follow the production timetable
- Operate machinery in a safe manner to ensure smooth operations
- Update and maintain accurate records within the SAP system
- Conduct quality control assessments to ensure compliance with client specifications
- Print shipping labels and input production data into SAP as required
- Ensure correct labeling of all finished products
- Use heat bond iron equipment to seal packaging materials
- Carry out routine equipment upkeep and simple maintenance tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area through regular housekeeping
- Dispose of departmental waste properly to keep the workspace orderly
- Apply Kaizen continuous improvement principles in daily activities
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics
- Capability to read and interpret tape measurements accurately
- Previous manufacturing environment experience is an asset
- Preferred experience of 1 to 2 years in manufacturing roles
- Exposure to UKG and SAP software systems is advantageous
