Overview
Join Microsoft as a Logistics Technician at our Auckland Data Center, where you will engage in tasks including cycle audits, managing incoming and outgoing deliveries, arranging security escorts for external vendors, and documenting logistics activities. This role offers an opportunity to expand your understanding of inventory management, warranty processes, and secure data destruction, enhancing your career growth. The position is fully onsite within one of our Data Centers.
As part of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you will contribute to the core infrastructure supporting key services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned tasks proficiently and escalate concerns during peak periods or when issues arise.
- Coordinate with suppliers to initiate warranty claims and manage failed hardware, including processing, packaging, shipping, and receiving Return Merchandise Authorization items as per service agreements.
- Apply process expertise and sound judgment to complete duties with minimal supervision.
- Maintain awareness of the effects of your work when handling tickets and inventory and asset management assignments.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records in inventory management systems such as configuration databases and asset repositories.
- Conduct detailed physical inventory tracking and staging operations.
- Assist with reconciling and reporting any inventory inconsistencies.
- Perform destruction of data-bearing devices adhering to all relevant policies and service level agreements.
- Inform management about stock shortages and escalate any operational concerns promptly.
- Adhere to security and data governance policies rigorously.
- Exemplify Microsoft’s culture and values consistently.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus at least one year of professional experience in warehouse, supply chain, IT-related inventory management, retail, or warehouse roles, or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in warehouse or logistics within IT environments, including operation of heavy-load handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts in large corporate settings, or equivalent experience.
Background and Legal Requirements
- Successful candidates must pass Microsoft's Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
- Verification of New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency is mandatory, requiring submission of a valid NZ passport or PR visa.
