Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Localization Engineer to join our team supporting in-house Localization Specialists, Web Developers, and Project Managers. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and deep understanding of localization challenges, paired with a proactive and collaborative attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage localization infrastructure including localization tools and platforms such as MemoQ, Lilt, WPML, and various content connectors.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for localization teams, assist with onboarding, and promote best practices to improve localization workflows.
- Oversee resource management including translation memories, termbases, import filters, and file preparation to enhance efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
- Develop and refine testing processes and resolve technical issues to create more streamlined and effective localization workflows.
- Support complex localization projects involving multimedia assets like websites, audio, video, AI-driven tools, and third-party software.
- Drive innovation by identifying, implementing, and integrating new localization tools and solutions, serving as a bridge between internal teams and external vendors.
- Perform other relevant tasks as required to support localization operations.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum two years of experience in technical roles supporting localization teams (either vendor-side or internally).
- Hands-on experience with Translation Management Systems (TMS) and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools.
- Strong familiarity with localization issues, root cause analysis, diverse file formats handling, process automation, and resource optimization.
- Proficient in typical localization file formats such as .xliff, .tmx, .json, .csv, and html/xml.
- Practical knowledge of Regular Expressions for localization tasks.
- Comprehensive understanding of localization workflows, challenges, and best practices.
- Multi-language fluency preferred; German is advantageous.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Experience with MemoQ, Lilt, WordPress, or WPML tools.
- Knowledge of terminology management software.
- Competency in scripting languages such as Python or batch scripting.
- Familiarity with PHP and JavaScript.
- Background in AI tools implementation or usage of grading frameworks.
