Local Service Unit HSE Manager

About the Role

Join Hitachi Energy to lead and enhance health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices within the local organization. This role focuses on fostering a strong safety culture by ensuring accountability and maintaining high standards of HSE performance across all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively disseminate health and safety initiatives, protocols, and procedures to ensure uniform understanding among all employees.
• Provide training, coaching, and support for the organization on all health, safety, and environmental matters.
• Exemplify a dedicated commitment to HSE standards, guidelines, and management procedures.
• Oversee adherence to HSE requirements and manage any nonconformance according to established procedures.
• Advise management, supervisors, and staff onsite to support accident prevention, and serve as a liaison with contractors and clients when needed.
• Assist facility and service site managers with risk evaluations of workplaces, tasks, tools, and shared spaces.
• Implement and maintain a health and safety management system compliant with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits, investigate incidents to determine root causes, and oversee corrective actions.
• Keep track of, communicate, and apply standards set by external bodies and incorporate them into internal management systems.
• Guide competency-based HSE training for all personnel in the organization.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
• At least five years of pertinent experience in safety and environmental roles.
• CSP certification is advantageous.
• In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards relevant to manufacturing environments and understanding the importance of safety systems to manage site risks.
• Practical experience in designing and managing safety systems with attention to site-specific challenges and solutions.
• Comprehensive understanding of OSHA legislation applicable to manufacturing sites.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
