Role Summary

The Linux Administrator L1/L2 role focuses on the administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. Responsibilities span system installation, configuration, virtualization, storage management, security, automation, and backup operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, ensuring their optimal performance and availability.
• Handle installation, configuration, and routine system management tasks.
• Monitor system health and perform troubleshooting for complex issues, escalating as necessary.
• Support and manage Linux network and directory services including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate operational tasks.
• Assist with virtualization technologies like VMware and container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Manage Linux storage solutions involving LVM and RAID configurations, addressing any capacity or performance issues.
• Implement and ensure adherence to Linux security best practices, including firewall and encryption configurations.
• Support backup and disaster recovery strategies, participating in recovery procedures when needed.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and communicate effectively within technical teams during operational activities.
• Provide reliable shift-based support, responding to incidents and performing administrative duties during assigned hours.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
• Strong troubleshooting expertise in complex Linux systems and performance issues.
• Hands-on knowledge of DNS, DHCP, LDAP, shell scripting, and Ansible automation.
• Familiarity with VMware virtualization, containerization using Docker, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift administration.
• Expertise in Linux storage management with LVM and RAID.
• Experience supporting security measures including firewalls, encryption, access controls, and vulnerability assessment remediation.
• Competence in backup operations and disaster recovery planning for Linux systems.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in shift rotations to ensure continuous support.
