Role Summary

The Windows Team Lead position requires an experienced professional to provide technical leadership and oversee the operations of enterprise Windows Server infrastructure and associated services. Acting as the senior escalation point, this role involves managing complex incidents, infrastructure modifications, security fixes, and offering technical direction to Windows engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct administration, ensure high availability, optimize performance, and maintain reliability of enterprise Windows Server ecosystems.
• Define standards, best practices, and operational procedures for Windows administration.
• Mentor and guide Level 1 and Level 2 Windows engineers technically.
• Examine system configurations, upgrades, maintenance tasks, and technical strategies before implementation.
• Serve as a senior point of escalation for complex and critical infrastructure challenges.
• Recognize infrastructure vulnerabilities and advise on enhancements.
• Lead support and troubleshooting for Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, resolving advanced authentication, domain, policy, and network service issues.
• Review access management controls and confirm service reliability for directory and network services.
• Provide leadership on VMware and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), ensuring seamless Windows integration, capacity management, and performance troubleshooting.
• Champion PowerShell scripting and automation for administration, monitoring, reporting, and remediation, developing scripting standards and validating automation efforts.
• Support Windows infrastructure for enterprise applications including Exchange, Citrix, and SCCM, addressing integration and troubleshooting needs.
• Oversee backup and disaster recovery solutions, driving recovery planning, testing, and business continuity initiatives.
• Lead patch management efforts, security vulnerability remediation, and ensure compliance by addressing vulnerability/critical risk findings.
• Manage incident resolution for priority 1 and 2 incidents, coordinate technical teams in major incidents, and provide updates to stakeholders.
• Conduct and review root cause analyses and implement preventative measures.
• Oversee Windows Server upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes while ensuring adherence to change management protocols and production stability.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and alerts; identify recurring issues and maintain precise documentation including architecture, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational procedures.
• Create technical guides and SOPs and participate in shift-based support, including scheduled and after-hours maintenance activities with effective handovers.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Comprehensive experience with enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP networking.
• Proficient in VMware and VMware Cloud Foundation platforms.
• Advanced skills in PowerShell and infrastructure automation.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across hardware, software, systems, and networking.
• Experience supporting Exchange, Citrix, SCCM, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Skilled in patch management, security remediation, and addressing vulnerability assessments and critical risk findings.
• Background in managing critical enterprise production environments.
• Effective incident management and root cause analysis skills combined with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Ability and willingness to work within a shift-based operational schedule.

Preferred Experience

• Leadership experience managing Windows infrastructure or systems administration teams.
• Experience operating in large-scale enterprise or 24/7 production environments.
• Experience with VMware/VCF infrastructure and security vulnerability management.
• Background in backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure transformation projects.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Azure, ITIL, CompTIA, security, or cloud.
