Job description
Role Overview
We seek a skilled and safety-conscious Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance team, playing a crucial role in ensuring consistent electricity delivery across our network. The position involves constructing and maintaining overhead power lines and operating equipment on lines up to 33kV. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wishes to contribute to essential infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain overhead electrical power lines to meet project, customer, and network standards.
- Assist in formulating work plans for building, servicing, and upgrading electricity lines and related apparatus.
- Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures when necessary.
- Perform overhaul of non-load-bearing pole hardware within electrical networks up to 110kV.
- Operate ground and structure-mounted electrical devices on lines up to 33kV.
- Carry out all tasks with adherence to safety, efficiency, and professional excellence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Mandatory EWRB Registration as a Line Mechanic.
- Valid New Zealand driver’s licence required; HT licence is highly preferred.
- Additional relevant competencies applicable to the network or customer base are advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with overhead power lines construction and maintenance.
- Strong safety ethic demonstrated through an excellent safety record and compliance with high-risk protocols.
- Proven reliability as a team player with a positive mindset and strong work discipline.
- Effective communication skills, capable of constructive collaboration with colleagues and customers.
- Prior experience in electrical maintenance and construction contexts.
