Licensed Millwright - Guelph Facility

About the Position

This opportunity is for a licensed Maintenance Millwright at the Guelph, Ontario facility, focused on ensuring the reliable and safe functioning of mechanical and electrical systems through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The role involves working in a dynamic beef processing setting with a strong emphasis on safety, technical skill, and adherence to production goals.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Hourly wage: $42.85 per hour
• Work shifts alternate weekly on a continental day schedule: Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday; Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.
• Sign-on bonus of $3,000 provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and repair tasks on machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults efficiently.
• Operate motorized vehicles and associated equipment safely.
• Strictly follow health, safety, food safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with peers and supervisors to achieve production targets.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and be at least 18 years old.
• Hold an Ontario or Inter-Provincial 433A Millwright Certificate accredited by Skilled Trades Ontario or possess Red Seal Certification.
• Completion of 8,000 apprenticeship hours with a full license.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working as a licensed Mechanic Millwright within a manufacturing or production setting.
• Capability to perform physical duties including bending, kneeling, climbing, and lift weights up to 50 lbs.
• Competent English reading and writing skills.
• Comfortable working at heights above 4 feet and within confined spaces.
• Willingness to undertake overtime, work weekends, holidays, and tolerate varying environmental conditions such as dust, noise, temperature extremes.

Preferred Skills

• Background experience in food manufacturing and compliance with CFIA regulations.
• Welding certification or other trade qualifications are advantageous.
• Familiarity with Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and layout plans.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
