Overview
This position seeks a Lecturer or Consultant to lead comprehensive human-centered design research efforts spanning both academic and industry settings. The role emphasizes the application of diverse research methods and behavioral experiments, augmented by AI tools to analyze, synthesize, and derive actionable insights. Candidates will deliver impactful design frameworks and recommendations based on research findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the entire process of human-centered design research that informs decisions on services, products, systems, and information architectures.
- Employ mixed research methodologies and behavior experimentation, harnessing AI to support data analysis and interpretation.
- Convert research results into tangible design outputs such as information architecture frameworks and evidence-based suggestions.
- Create research tools and outputs that enhance organizational capability, assist evaluations, and contribute to grants, pilots, and partnerships.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, students, and industry to facilitate co-design sessions, research presentations, and aligned discussions with strong ethical standards.
- Enhance the center's intellectual environment through seminars, critiques, workshops, publications, and knowledge exchange.
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and provide student consultations; oversee interdisciplinary projects that intersect design and technology.
- Engage with industry and professional groups to remain abreast of emerging trends.
- Design rigorous curricula, assess students comprehensively, and implement interventions to support diverse learning needs and holistic development.
- Support professional growth for working adults through workshops and continuing education programs.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Academic qualification in Design or related disciplines such as Human-Centered Design, UX/UI, or Interaction Design.
- Strong foundation in human-centered design research, service design, and information architecture principles.
- Experience applying diverse research methods in academic, applied, or industry contexts.
- Proficiency with AI tools and methods to support research analysis, synthesis, and design processes.
- Proven capacity to translate complex research into practical, applicable design solutions.
- Ability to oversee interdisciplinary student projects spanning design, technology, and systems thinking.
- Track record collaborating with industry partners, professional bodies, and participating in funded projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively across multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong passion for knowledge sharing and comfortable engagement with students, public, and corporate clients.
