Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Solar Installer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Central Hawke's Bay. This role involves leading the end-to-end installation, commissioning, and upkeep of solar power systems for both residential and commercial properties. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and meet high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare materials and tools required for solar system installations.
• Supervise and lead installation teams, ensuring smooth project execution.
• Interpret technical plans, wiring diagrams, and installation guidelines accurately.
• Carry out electrical and mounting work associated with solar system deployment.
• Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on installed systems to ensure functionality.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades during all project phases.
• Maintain detailed records of installation work and system performance.
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory standards, industry safety protocols, and company procedures.
• Mentor and support team members to enhance skills and performance.
• Contribute to process improvements and assist in expanding the company’s solar service offerings.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience and knowledge in solar power systems covering installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Awareness of current solar industry technologies, safety guidelines, and regulations.
• Skillful use of power and hand tools for both construction and electrical tasks.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within installation or construction projects is essential.
• Holding a relevant trade or electrical certification is preferred.
• Eligibility to work and operate in New Zealand is mandatory.
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices, including risk assessments and adherence to safety policies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and manuals precisely.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills necessary for collaborating with diverse workers and customers.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and readiness to travel throughout Hawke's Bay and surrounding areas.
