About the Role

The Managed EKS team is focused on building a cutting-edge compute platform for Grab's engineers. Having already migrated a large portion of legacy workloads to this platform, the team aims to enhance the daily experience of engineers across Grab. This onsite role based in Singapore requires a seasoned Lead Engineer to design, build, and oversee the service mesh and Kubernetes infrastructure that supports our microservices architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain istio service mesh and Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with development teams to align architecture with their requirements.
  • Implement and manage service discovery, load balancing, traffic management, and observability within the service mesh.
  • Handle workload deployment and scheduling on AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Respond swiftly to service outages, assist in capacity planning, and optimize performance.
  • Monitor operations to identify and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of DevOps practices within the team.

Candidate Profile and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum five years managing microservice architectures.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols including HTTP, TCP/IP, and gRPC.
  • Experience with DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Proficient in programming with Go, Java, or Python.
  • Hands-on familiarity with service mesh technologies such as istio, linkerd, or consul.
  • Knowledgeable in Kubernetes management, especially on AWS EKS and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with cloud-native stacks and cloud environments including AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
