Lead Security Engineer - gTech Risk Solutions

About the Role

The Security team at Google is dedicated to maintaining a secure environment for users and developers alike. As a Lead Security Engineer within gTech Risk Solutions, you will actively collaborate with software engineers and network teams to detect, address, and prevent security vulnerabilities early. The team is shifting from reactive risk management to proactive, engineering-driven prevention by designing tailored security solutions for Google's diverse gTech business ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop security architectures and validation frameworks tailored for agentic platforms, including defenses against prompt injection and data flow restrictions.
• Establish technical standards and automated processes for swift vulnerability mitigation aligned with global service-level objectives.
• Design automated access control systems and integration templates aimed at preventing unauthorized access and data exfiltration.
• Ensure all technical architectures comply with central security standards by acting as a liaison to central infrastructure teams.
• Produce clear and detailed technical designs for implementation by the Operational Engineering (Build) teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in security engineering, threat modeling, system design, and security architecture.
• At least 3 years experience programming in languages such as C++, Java, Go, or Python.
• Proven expertise in designing security controls for operational teams and cloud infrastructure deployments.
• Experience partnering with centralized security functions to develop, deploy, and monitor security policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in architecting enterprise-level security systems, including access control and observability platforms.
• Familiarity with Google's core security infrastructure components like Ganpati, MDB groups, Zanzibar, or S2.
• In-depth technical knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), AI security vulnerabilities such as prompt injection and data poisoning, and the establishment of deterministic security safeguards.
• Strong skills in influencing senior engineering stakeholders on key architectural decisions.

Additional Information

Compensation is influenced by skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The salary range for this role in Ireland is €122,000 to €125,000 per year, complemented by a 15% target bonus, equity, and benefits.
