Lead Process Engineer

About the Role

Arcadis DPS Group, a leader in sustainable design and engineering with over 36,000 professionals globally, is seeking a Lead Process Engineer for their Dublin office. This role focuses on leading the process design team to deliver innovative solutions for Pharmaceutical and Life Science projects throughout Ireland and Europe. Reporting to the Process Department Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the development of production processes and drive plant improvements while offering technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in project proposals, pricing, and business development by defining process engineering deliverables with clients and project teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives including budget and schedule.
• Lead the end-to-end process design projects, ensuring timely delivery of technical documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, process reports, calculations, utility sizing, and equipment specifications that meet quality and safety standards.
• Manage changes in project scope, schedule, or budget by assessing modifications, documenting impacts, mitigating risks, and ensuring delivery commitments remain intact.
• Build and maintain collaborative client relationships concerning process-related issues to support ongoing and future projects.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, Arcadis offices, clients, and equipment suppliers to coordinate process inputs and integrate deliverables during the design phase.
• Ensure processes comply with local, international, and client-specific codes and standards.
• Lead safety and quality initiatives including participation and leadership in PHAs, HAZOPs, design reviews, and peer reviews.
• Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new process technologies and improvements, fostering continuous learning within the engineering team.
• Mentor and support a diverse professional team to help achieve project goals and promote personal development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a higher technical degree in Industrial, Process, or Chemical Engineering.
• Have at least 12 years of process engineering experience in design consultancy or Food/Pharmaceutical/GMP manufacturing sectors, including leadership roles as a Design Process Lead.
• Demonstrate strong collaboration skills capable of coordinating across multiple disciplines, architecture and engineering teams, vendors, and system owners.
• Exhibit advanced decision-making and problem-solving capabilities for complex challenges.
• Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
• Be proficient in MS Office and various process-related software, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Show leadership abilities by building, leading, and inspiring a team of engineering professionals to meet project and personal goals.

Desirable Skills

• Expertise as a subject matter expert in pharmaceutical or life science process engineering within a global organization.
• Experience in process safety leadership, including chairing PHAs and HAZOPs within pharmaceutical or life science environments.
