Job description

Role Overview

As a Lead Night Manager at Asda's larger format store in Grimsby, you will oversee and guide the night team to ensure smooth operations while the store operates overnight. Your responsibilities include maintaining optimal product availability, high shop floor standards across all departments, and guaranteeing store safety and legal compliance during the night shift. This role involves full accountability for night planning and executing activities in a complex larger store.

Work Pattern & Responsibilities

  • Operate on a rotational schedule, working 4 nights out of 7, inclusive of weekends.
  • Be solely responsible for the overall store operations during the night shift in a 24-hour store environment.
  • Strategize and implement all trading activities on the shop floor during night hours, including ensuring products are date rotated, managing waste and returns, and minimizing damage through effective replenishment.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire night team members and team leaders to maintain excellent shop floor standards, foster a customer-first culture, and encourage increased sales per customer.
  • Ensure that the shop floor is clean, well-organized, and ready for customers before handing over to the day team, with modular activities completed and promotional materials up to date.
  • Support talent development by listening empathetically, promoting resilience, encouraging ownership, and instilling passion for the business, creating a supportive and motivated work environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience managing teams in overnight shifts at large-format retail grocery stores.
  • Ability to independently make decisions with a proactive, hands-on approach focused on improving processes and team performance.
  • Confidence in leading large teams and managing organizational change.
  • A strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work various night shifts, including weekends.
