Job description

Job Overview and Compensation

This role offers an hourly wage of $18.20, with final pay dependent on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Compass Group Canada ensures competitive compensation that aligns with pay transparency laws. Canadian work experience is not mandatory. Recruitment may involve AI-assisted applicant screening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding.
  • Transport food items like pans and trays safely between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators.
  • Store food correctly with proper wrapping, dating, and following rotation and safety protocols.
  • Set up daily items for purchase.
  • Conduct general cleaning, including trash removal to designated locations.
  • Distribute supplies, utensils, and movable equipment as needed.
  • Use approved recipes and production standards to maintain food quality, portion sizes, and proper serving temperatures, alerting cooks if temperatures fall outside acceptable limits.
  • Provide friendly, efficient customer service adhering to defined service steps.
  • Address customer issues and communicate concerns to supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Support retail areas through cashiering and food line service duties.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Certification in FoodSafe Level 1.
  • Familiarity with cash register operations is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle a demanding workload.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both spoken and written, able to follow instructions efficiently.
  • Prior experience in food service sectors such as healthcare, hotels, restaurants, or fast food is a plus.
  • Physical fitness to perform job duties.
