Job Overview
Crescent Petroleum's Upstream division is recruiting a Lead Geologist to join its Subsurface Team in Sharjah. The appointed individual will spearhead all geological functions, ensuring the delivery of subsurface studies through managing a group of geologists. This role involves overseeing regional geological evaluations, structural geology, reservoir characterization, geomodelling, petroleum systems analysis, and geochemistry, supporting exploration, appraisal, and development operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide geological expertise to enhance asset evaluation and prioritization in appraisal and development portfolios.
- Develop technical project scopes, deliverables, and requirements for proposals.
- Consolidate seismic, well, core, and production data to build and improve geological models and reservoir frameworks.
- Perform probabilistic resource assessments following SPE-PRMS and relevant classification standards.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists, and geophysicists to maintain integrated 3D geological models.
- Prepare and present technical documents for internal, partner, and regulatory meetings.
- Mentor junior geoscientists, promoting technical development and continuous learning.
- Ensure geological work complies with governance and audit standards supporting investment decisions.
- Support well planning, including geological prognosis, geohazard evaluation, and post-drill reviews.
- Manage all geological aspects of field development planning and implementation.
- Design and supervise geology work plans; contribute to annual budgets and work programmes.
- Assist in business development via technical assessments, due diligence, and opportunity evaluations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related disciplines.
- 10 to 15+ years of upstream oil and gas experience, focusing on appraisal, development, and reservoir characterization.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis.
- Proficiency with geological modeling tools such as Petrel and GeoX.
- Strong knowledge of probabilistic resource estimation and volumetric uncertainty analysis.
- Proven leadership in directing multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects successfully.
- Experience with carbonate and naturally fractured reservoirs.
- Thorough understanding of Middle East and North Africa regional geology and petroleum systems.
- Capability to critically assess technical interpretations and advocate evidence-based decision-making.
- Excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with precise attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
