Role Overview
The Driller is responsible for directing and executing drilling operations directly onsite, ensuring compliance with company protocols and industry norms for safety and efficiency. Located in Doha, Qatar, this full-time onsite position involves operating and monitoring drilling apparatus, leading the drilling crew, and coordinating efforts with supervisory staff and other departments to achieve operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and adjust drilling parameters during operations.
- Supervise inspections of drilling machinery and safety equipment to maintain operational readiness.
- Maintain precise drilling logs and documentation.
- Timely address operational or safety issues that arise during drilling activities.
- Ensure correct utilization of heavy equipment in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
- Contribute to crew training and mentorship.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive practical experience with heavy machinery and drilling in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficient in directional drilling methods and wellbore control techniques.
- Skilled at conducting comprehensive inspections of drilling rigs, tools, and safety systems.
- Solid knowledge of oil and gas regulatory standards and HSE practices.
- Experience as a Driller or Assistant Driller in land-based or comparable drilling operations.
- Capability to work rotating shifts under challenging field conditions and in a culturally diverse team.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities to effectively manage crews and operational challenges.
- Possession of a technical diploma or certification related to drilling, petroleum, or mechanical studies; certifications like IWCF or IADC well control are advantageous.
