Lead Data Scientist - Pricing

Overview

Join the Fulfilment team at Gojek, collaborating across Singapore, India, and Indonesia to tackle challenging problems that improve order fulfillment efficiency and balance the needs of customers, drivers, and merchants. This role focuses on enhancing dynamic pricing systems critical to the reliability of on-demand services.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate complex business challenges into clearly defined technical questions solvable using data, statistics, and machine learning.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to develop scalable data science solutions powering pricing for ride-hailing, food delivery, and logistics.
• Take ownership of the entire machine learning lifecycle, including research, model development, deployment, experimentation, and driving measurable business impacts.
• Enhance the dynamic pricing system utilizing econometrics, causal inference, and simulation methods.
• Design and analyze experiments to assess model effectiveness alongside analysts and product teams, ensuring rigorous evaluation and clear metrics.
• Continuously monitor and assess model performance, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions.
• Effectively communicate insights, trade-offs, and technical decisions to cross-functional teams, while working autonomously in complex, ambiguous settings.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Between 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including work on dynamic pricing engines in ride-hailing or related dynamic sectors.
• Strong foundation in statistics and machine learning with practical project experience.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, including knowledge of data analysis and modeling libraries.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from data and communicate them clearly.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn rapidly, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Inherent curiosity, humility, and motivation to apply data science to large-scale real-world challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with tools such as Jupyter, Git, and Docker, and an understanding of software development workflows.
• Experience with real-time machine learning systems at project or academic levels.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or AliCloud, and modern data stack technologies.
• Participation in open-source initiatives or publicly showcasing work.
