About Halter
Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and graziers to operate more productive and environmentally sustainable farms. Our technology enables cattle to move calmly and autonomously without manual herding aids, revolutionizing traditional grazing methods. Our work impacts lives and is driven by a high-performance culture eager to tackle tough challenges. Supported by top-tier investors, we aim to deliver meaningful innovation in agriculture.
Role Overview
As Lead Compliance Engineer, you will be essential in accelerating Halter's global market penetration by managing certification processes for our wireless, EMC/EMI, product safety, and carrier-certified hardware used in collars, towers, and associated technology. Reporting to the Head of Hardware, you will work closely with electronics and mechanical teams to ensure compliant products reach farmers quickly and reliably. This role views compliance as a strategic advantage, influencing the pace of market entry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the strategy for device testing and certification spanning all present and future markets, aligning testing schedules with development to prevent compliance bottlenecks.
- Identify, select, and oversee third-party testing laboratories, certification agencies, and local regulatory advisors, managing project scope, costs, timelines, and deliverable quality.
- Lead carrier certification activities end-to-end for cellular-connected devices, coordinating logistics, labs, and approvals from network providers.
- Establish and enhance Halter's in-house pre-compliance testing capabilities, reducing testing cycle durations and accelerating design iterations ahead of formal certification.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across electronic, RF, firmware, and mechanical domains to enable first-time pass success and address failures through detailed root cause analysis.
- Maintain audit-ready compliance documentation including standards matrices, certification registers, technical files, and declarations of conformity.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments worldwide and translate changes into actionable strategies affecting products and business operations.
- Perform additional startup-related tasks as needed, embracing a hands-on approach.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of eight years' experience managing regulatory compliance and certification for wireless or electronic hardware across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Specialized expertise with radio standards such as FCC, ISED, RED, RCM; demonstrated knowledge of EMC/EMI and product safety requirements; familiarity with associated regulatory bodies.
- Valuable experience with cellular carrier/operator certifications, including PTCRB, GCF, or direct approvals.
- Proven ability to manage external test labs and consultants effectively, balancing commercial and technical demands.
- Practical knowledge of pre-compliance testing tools such as spectrum analyzers and capability to diagnose and resolve test failures proactively.
- Highly autonomous with experience in setting compliance strategy, managing budgets, and being accountable for outcomes.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude with strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and availability to travel internationally approximately 10–20% of the time for lab visits, regulatory meetings, and manufacturing sites.
Additional Information

The company offers meaningful work with talented colleagues, significant growth opportunities, and a challenging environment aimed at industry transformation. Employees receive a personal development budget and thrive in a culture emphasizing autonomy and mastery.
