Overview

The Lead Cafe Manager is accountable for the continuous success and smooth operation of the café by maintaining optimal café conditions and mentoring new baristas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare Joe Muggs beverages adhering strictly to the company’s quality standards and ensure these standards are consistently upheld.
  • Ensure daily engagement with the Cafe Communication Binder for effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Uphold visual merchandising standards for all café-specific merchandise to maintain aesthetic appeal.
  • Complete and submit the Weekly Inventory Sheet to the District Manager accurately and on time.
  • Evaluate inventory results and manage café supply orders based on findings.
  • Assist management in the training and skill development of new baristas.
  • Encourage baristas to meet and exceed goals on limited-time offers, direct customer sales, auto-renewals, comparable sales, and customer service standards in both café and bookstore.
  • Coordinate and oversee the completion of Preventative Maintenance tasks weekly to maintain equipment and store standards.
  • Actively promote company initiatives during customer interactions to enhance brand presence.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to every guest entering the café.
  • Maintain café cleanliness and conditions according to company policies; including dusting, vacuuming, restroom upkeep, and overall building maintenance assistance.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in customer service is essential
  • Familiarity with café products and equipment such as blenders, ovens, espresso machines, and registers
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful background screening clearance

Preferred Skills

  • Solid communication proficiency both spoken and written
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Competence in handling cash transactions

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Capable of standing and walking for long periods during shifts
  • Able to perform repetitive manual tasks such as operating keyboards and phones
  • Capable of lifting or assisting to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through speech, sight, and hearing, with or without aids
  • Ability to engage in physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, or crouching as needed
