About the Role
Capital One UK is seeking a Lead Android Engineer to join their mobile platform engineering team in Nottingham, with a hybrid work schedule involving three days onsite (Tuesday to Thursday) and two remote days (Monday and Friday). The role involves leading multiple mobile engineering teams and owning the development of fully native Android applications that serve Capital One customers.
Responsibilities and Technical Environment
The position requires leadership in technological decision-making and development practices. The successful candidate will work with Kotlin and Java to produce clean, well-tested code across Android apps and backend services. Experience with Android Studio and the Android toolset is essential for managing development at an enterprise scale. Proficiency with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Espresso is needed, alongside championing methodologies like Pair Programming, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD). Familiarity with AWS cloud services will be beneficial in leveraging cloud capabilities for continuous improvement.

Work Location and Schedule
