Lead AI Generative Designer

About the Role

This role is offered through a partner company and is based in New Zealand. The Lead AI Generative Designer will take a hands-on leadership position responsible for producing high-quality, realistic, and consistent AI-generated visual content at scale. The position merges advanced creative design with technical skills in generative AI workflows and automation to establish robust production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure the quality and uniformity of AI-generated visual assets throughout the production pipeline.
• Create lifelike, visually impressive images including models, avatars, personas, and other graphics.
• Continuously enhance image realism, polish, approval rates, and support business goals.
• Develop and refine scalable AI image-generation pipelines using platforms such as Nano Banana Pro, Flux, ChatGPT, ComfyUI, WaveSpeed, and emerging technologies.
• Design repeatable and scalable workflows in ComfyUI and automate content generation through batch processing.
• Employ APIs, automation tools like n8n, scripting, and AI-assisted coding methods to minimize manual tasks.
• Increase production throughput while maintaining consistent quality standards.
• Set the technical direction and align content creation streams around shared workflows and best practices.
• Transition visual production from experimental approaches to reliable, efficient systems.
• Stay abreast of new generative AI models and technologies, conducting experiments to evaluate their impact on quality, efficiency, and cost.
• Communicate clear technical and creative recommendations, taking ownership of the entire image generation process and its continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

• Hands-on experience crafting visual content using generative AI techniques.
• Proven ability to create realistic images of people, avatars, or similar subjects at scale.
• Proficiency with ComfyUI, Flux, or similar generative AI environments.
• Experience constructing and improving AI image production workflows and batch processing pipelines.
• Familiarity with APIs, automation platforms like n8n, and basic scripting capabilities.
• Skills in AI-assisted coding ("vibecoding") to develop scalable production solutions.
• Excellent visual judgment with a keen eye for detail, including knowledge of composition, anatomy, lighting, and artifact identification.
• Capacity to independently own projects at a senior level and design effective processes beyond ad hoc creativity.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, experimentation skills, and objective evaluation of emerging technologies.
• Effective communication skills to articulate technical/creative concepts and provide constructive feedback.
• Adaptability to rapidly evolving generative AI landscapes while balancing creative quality and operational efficiencies.
