Layout Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Layout Engineer who applies industrial engineering principles and problem-solving skills to optimize factory equipment layouts, enhancing production efficiency. This role bridges Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities teams by maintaining precise layout documentation, supporting installation planning, and ensuring practicality within factory constraints.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance material flow, space utilization, and factory throughput by optimizing equipment layouts using industrial engineering approaches.
• Keep layout documents accurate and current, incorporating all planned tool installations, moves, removals, and upgrades into the ramp-plan layouts.
• Conduct on-site evaluations with Facilities and tool owners to verify layout feasibility, physical and infrastructure limits, and ensure layouts align with operational realities.
• Collaborate extensively with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities teams to communicate changes, resolve issues, and coordinate during planning and execution phases.
• Build foundational knowledge of factory design, cleanroom procedures, and various process areas to aid layout planning and readiness.
• Manage and plan the relocation of tools effectively.
• Support strategic scenario analyses to align with company objectives.
• Leverage AI-driven tools and solutions to enhance efficiency and outcomes for team projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities to evaluate constraints and trade-offs for data-informed decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and a cooperative attitude to foster cross-functional teamwork.
• Highly motivated with adaptability to thrive in a fast-evolving environment.
• Effective multitasking skills and systematic organization to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Physically able to work within cleanroom environments, adhering to attire and safety protocols, and performing on-site assessments.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience demonstrated through university or extracurricular activities.
• Previous programming experience, including coding with AI tools.
• Hands-on exposure to AI technologies such as chatbots, agentic AI, or automation in academic or work settings.
• Internship or prior work experience in the semiconductor sector is advantageous.
• Interest in and knowledge about the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
