Job description

Job Overview

The Laundry Worker is responsible for handling laundry equipment to finish flatwork and tumble-dried items, ensuring all linens are cleaned, folded, and maintained according to quality standards to satisfy customer and client requirements.

Key Duties

  • Receive and sort soiled linens into appropriate categories for processing.
  • Operate the automatic cart washer and manage linen carts during washing cycles.
  • Use flatwork ironers and small piece folding machines to process linens, including specialty items.
  • Conduct quality control to verify linens meet customer-specific quality expectations, referring issues to supervisors as needed.
  • Label and tag linen distribution carts correctly and cover them before transportation.
  • Fold and store linens, maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Assist truck drivers with loading linens and materials onto vehicles.
  • Report supply levels or any concerns to leads or supervisors promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of assigned work areas.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in a high-volume laundry environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, fostering effective work relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking capability.
  • Capacity to comprehend and adhere to established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in operating linen-related equipment and organizing tasks efficiently.

Physical Requirements and Safety

This position may require repetitive physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. Employees may be required to wear uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Potential exposures include infectious diseases, electrical hazards, burns, blood contact, heat, humidity, mechanical equipment, and sharp objects.
