Laundry Attendant

Job Overview

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing, washing, drying, ironing, and folding linens and various hotel items, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, brand guidelines, and relevant regulations. Prompt reporting of emergencies, accidents, damages, missing articles, and safety concerns to management is essential.

Laundry Operations

• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, towels, bed sheets, and other hotel textiles following established standard operating procedures.
• Operate laundry machinery such as washers, dryers, ironing equipment, and folding stations efficiently and maintain their upkeep.

Quality Control

• Inspect cleaned items to verify they meet quality benchmarks, addressing any stains, tears, or defects as necessary.
• Handle delicate fabrics and special materials cautiously per specific instructions to avoid damage.

Inventory Management

• Organize and maintain inventory of clean linens and towels to fulfill requirements of guest rooms, dining, and other departments.
• Monitor linen counts, track reorder points, and manage replenishment scheduling.

Equipment Maintenance

• Regularly clean and upkeep laundry equipment to ensure proper performance, reporting any malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
• Adhere to safety requirements while operating laundry machinery.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with housekeepers and other hotel departments to guarantee a continuous supply of fresh linens and towels for various hotel areas.

Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Prior experience in laundry services, ideally within hotel or hospitality sectors.
• Familiarity with fabric types, laundering methods, and proper garment care.
• Strong attention to detail to identify quality issues like stains or damage.
• Basic knowledge of laundry equipment operation.
• Excellent organizational capabilities to handle multiple duties.
• Physical ability to endure repetitive tasks and lift laundry bags up to 50 pounds.
• Dedication to maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role demands significant physical activity including prolonged standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The working environment can expose employees to temperature extremes, chemicals, dirt, fumes, odors, and loud sounds. Adherence to safety protocols and protective equipment use is mandatory.
