Job description

Role Objective

The Laundry Application Expert offers specialized technical support and application expertise in both commercial and industrial laundry settings. The purpose is to optimize washing efficiency, chemical usage, equipment function, and ensure consistent laundry quality.

Key Duties

  • Program, monitor, and optimize tunnel washers and washer extractors to enhance washing performance, productivity, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and customize wash programs based on laundry classification, fabric types, customer preferences, and operational needs.
  • Select, dose, and apply laundry chemicals appropriately to balance cleaning efficacy with garment care.
  • Conduct titration tests during wash cycles to confirm chemical concentration and adherence to dosing standards.
  • Perform water quality analysis to adjust wash processes and chemical applications accordingly.
  • Analyze process data to recommend improvements for productivity, water and energy consumption, and chemical efficiency.
  • Conduct routine quality assessments focusing on wash results, cleanliness, stain removal, garment preservation, and minimize rewash rates.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, turnaround times, resource usage, and quality metrics; prepare detailed performance reports.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues impacting wash quality.
  • Train laundry teams on wash processes, chemical handling, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.
  • Support customer technical requirements through on-site visits to assess laundry operations and recommend improvements tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports detailing process performance, identified challenges, and suggested enhancements.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with customers by delivering responsive technical service and customized laundry solutions.

  • Wash quality: cleanliness, stain removal, garment care standards.
  • Operational efficiency: productivity, turnaround time, wash cycle efficiency.
  • Chemical performance: accurate dosing, consumption levels, titration compliance.
  • Resource efficiency: water and energy consumption optimization.
  • Quality assurance: rewash rates, compliance, and reduction of recurring issues.
  • Technical support responsiveness and resolution rates.
  • Training effectiveness and compliance with SOPs and chemical applications.
  • Customer satisfaction and successful implementation of recommendations.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of KPI and technical reporting.
  • Continuous process improvements in productivity and resource use.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Operates independently with oversight, executing assigned laundry application tasks including programming, titration, water testing, and quality control.
  • Communicates technical guidance and collaborates with Laundry Operations, Engineering, Sales, and customers effectively.
  • Manages a complex range of tasks involving equipment, chemicals, wash quality, and customer requirements.
  • Applies practical expertise in industrial laundry systems, chemistry, and customer service to enhance operations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Textile Technology, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Certifications related to industrial laundry, textile care, chemical applications, or water treatment are advantageous.
  • Five to seven years of hands-on experience in industrial or commercial laundry operations, focusing on laundry applications, chemical dosing, process optimization, and customer technical support.
  • Proficiency with tunnel washers and washer extractors.
  • Strong knowledge of laundry chemicals, titration, water analysis, and wash program development.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve laundry productivity, quality, and resource efficiency.
  • Experience in training staff and conducting on-site technical assessments.

Work Environment and Conditions

  • The position is primarily field-based, requiring frequent visits to commercial and industrial laundry facilities combined with office work for planning and reporting.
  • Full-time schedule with flexibility to support technical troubleshooting, site assessments, and optimization tasks.
  • The role entails hands-on engagement with industrial laundry equipment, chemicals, and operational procedures, with adherence to health and safety protocols.

Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to: Laundry Manager
  • Internal collaboration with Laundry Operations, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams.
  • External interaction primarily with laundry customers and their operations teams.
