Key Responsibilities
- Sort and fold clothing items properly
- Organize clothes on racks designated by patient names and numbers
- Ensure patient garments are ready to wear; report damaged items appropriately
- Use knowledge of various soaps and bleaches, adhering to safety data sheet guidelines for all chemicals
- Operate washers and dryers efficiently, emptying machines as directed
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry equipment and adhere to scheduled cleaning routines
- Sweep and mop laundry areas to uphold hygienic standards
- Clean and disinfect linen carts as needed
- Treat stains on fabrics for removal
- Represent the organization positively with a servant leadership approach and maintain open communication
- Participate in committees, workgroups, and collaborative projects
- Carry out additional tasks to support the success of the healthcare system
Qualifications and Skills
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred
- Effective communication skills with coworkers, patients, visitors, and families, including a friendly and professional demeanor
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operational instructions, and manuals
- Competence in writing routine reports and correspondence
- Capable of speaking confidently before groups within the organization
- Basic math abilities: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Reasoning skills to follow instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram formats and resolve problems involving concrete variables
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word applications
Physical and Work Environment
- Position requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing
- Frequent walking and manual dexterity to handle materials
- Occasional standing
- Vision capabilities including close and distance vision, and ability to focus
