Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and fold clothing items properly
  • Organize clothes on racks designated by patient names and numbers
  • Ensure patient garments are ready to wear; report damaged items appropriately
  • Use knowledge of various soaps and bleaches, adhering to safety data sheet guidelines for all chemicals
  • Operate washers and dryers efficiently, emptying machines as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness of laundry equipment and adhere to scheduled cleaning routines
  • Sweep and mop laundry areas to uphold hygienic standards
  • Clean and disinfect linen carts as needed
  • Treat stains on fabrics for removal
  • Represent the organization positively with a servant leadership approach and maintain open communication
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, and collaborative projects
  • Carry out additional tasks to support the success of the healthcare system

Qualifications and Skills

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Effective communication skills with coworkers, patients, visitors, and families, including a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operational instructions, and manuals
  • Competence in writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Capable of speaking confidently before groups within the organization
  • Basic math abilities: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Reasoning skills to follow instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram formats and resolve problems involving concrete variables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word applications

Physical and Work Environment

  • Position requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing
  • Frequent walking and manual dexterity to handle materials
  • Occasional standing
  • Vision capabilities including close and distance vision, and ability to focus
