Primary Duties
- Sweep, damp mop, and wet mop tile flooring; occasionally perform spray buffing, stripping, or waxing using wet floor signs as required
- Identify and report carpet areas in need of cleaning or spot treatment to supervisor
- Vacuum carpeted rooms according to protocols
- Dust and damp clean surfaces in patient rooms, including furniture, bed frames, and windowsills, adhering to center procedures with appropriate safety signage
- Empty trash receptacles, clean both interior and exterior, and replace liners
- Clean bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets thoroughly following established methods
- Maintain cleanliness of glass surfaces such as mirrors and windows
- Clean underneath and behind furniture, moving items as needed in line with procedures
- Turn mattresses after cleaning to ensure even wear
- Attend to dining areas post-breakfast and lunch by wiping tables, sweeping and mopping floors
- Replace soiled privacy curtains and draperies on windows; safely remove and rehang curtains using ladders
- Sweep and clean outdoor porches, walkways, and dispose of trash properly
- Follow cleaning schedules assigned by supervisory personnel
- Adhere strictly to infection control guidelines and use isolation methods such as gowns and gloves when necessary
- Respect patient rights when cleaning patient rooms; handle patients’ belongings with care and dignity
- Handle chemicals responsibly, keeping them secured or in sight and complying with MSDS guidelines
- Manage housekeeping equipment and supplies properly; clean and store equipment at shift end and report malfunctions
- Restock bathroom essentials like soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue consistently throughout the facility
- Prevent buildup of wax and dirt in corners, baseboards, and doorways
- Promote the organization’s reputation by demonstrating servant leadership and maintaining open communication
- Contribute actively to committees, workgroups, and collaborative projects within the system
- Perform other tasks necessary to support the success of the organization
Skills and Competencies
- Fundamental knowledge of cleaning concepts and the safe use of chemicals
- Effective communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a warm and helpful approach
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements
This role involves frequent walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. Use of hands for handling and reaching is necessary, along with occasional standing. Visual capabilities include close and distance vision and focusing ability.
Additional Details
Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret safety documents and manuals, write routine reports, and communicate effectively in groups.
Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning: Ability to understand and follow instructions in various formats and apply common sense to solve problems.
Computer Competency: Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.
