Laboratory Information System Officer

About the Role

Parkway Laboratory Services Ltd (PLS) operates laboratories within four major hospitals in Singapore—Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Parkway East Hospital—as well as a central reference laboratory at Aljunied, which also serves as headquarters. With over four decades of experience in laboratory medicine, PLS supports a wide network of hospitals, primary care clinics, and integrated healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Laboratory Manager in managing laboratory technology systems, ensuring they meet operational, clinical, and regulatory standards.
• Lead the planning and coordination of Laboratory Information System (LIS) projects, including testing, validation, and implementation, working closely with internal teams, vendors, and IT partners.
• Act as the system custodian for laboratory IT applications by overseeing governance, administration, and technical management to maintain system stability and performance.
• Develop, review, and update policies, standard operating procedures, contingency plans, and system downtime protocols to support uninterrupted laboratory operations.
• Investigate and escalate system-related issues, collaborating with stakeholders to implement long-lasting resolutions and optimize processes.
• Ensure laboratory systems, medical devices, workflows, and processes comply with all relevant regulatory, accreditation, cybersecurity, and data governance standards.
• Serve as the primary interface between laboratory operations, IT departments, cybersecurity teams, and external service providers on technology and operational matters.
• Promote continuous process improvements and digital transformation initiatives to optimize laboratory workflows, system use, data quality, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possess a degree or diploma in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a clinical laboratory environment is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with SQL and database management is particularly advantageous.
• Understanding of healthcare systems and laboratory workflows is considered an asset.
